LAURENT BAKERY HAS BEEN A LEADER IN

ITS FIELD SINCE IT'S INCEPTION IN 1993.

Laurent Bakery is a private family-owned company committed to producing affordable top quality bread and baked goods in the French tradition. Its products are available in the company’s own retail stores, for wholesale and food service nationally and internationally.

 

Laurent has been a leader in its field since the first store opened in 1993, in a new commercial and residential development in Melbourne’s fashionable Toorak Road. That first store set the tone for the company’s future. It represented tradition, innovation and popular appeal.

 

Twenty years later, Laurent products are known everywhere. The stores grew, now there is 15 of them in Melbourne, Clayton and Sydney factories were opened, and more recently, the extraordinary new venture in Braeside. Laurent has grown into a major bakery company.

 

TRADITION AND INNOVATION.

Laurent bakery has a reputation for innovation, and the ability to respond to the requests of it's markets. It applies not only for our retail customers but also for wholesale and food service customers. If a new product is requested, it can be developed and delivered. That is one of the strengths of a company where decision-making can be swift.

 

New products can be developed, new markets satisfied, more consumers delighted. But the core values will always remain. Tradition and innovation will always work in harmony to create excellent product for all.

 

THE SOUR-DOUGH SPECIALIST.

We have been a pioneer in use of sourdough, and the ferment known as levain in French. Throughout the years we have developed a wide Levain range. The products within that range are authentic sourdough, made with a sourdough starter that was established many years ago at the first bakery in Como.

 

The breads require many hours to achieve their full flavour. At Laurent there are no short cuts and no compromises. The aim is always to produce premium quality breads. Achieving that aim has involved the use of traditional methods, and, remarkably, the final baking on stone hearths.

 

OUR CUSTOMERS.

The retail stores are the places where the company comes face-to-face with its consumers, where their response to new products can be observed, and their loyalty appreciated. Their taste for good bread means they are discerning consumers, able to differentiate, able to appreciate the unique flavours and textures.

 

The logo – the elegant gold L – is instantly recognisable at a retail level. What is not so immediately obvious is the number of places that sell Laurent products: the supermarket chains, the airlines, the restaurant and hotel groups.
